Utah State University AthleticsUtah State athletics will be members of the Western Athletics Conference beginning in the 2005-06 season. This year the Aggies compete in the Big West Conference with several exceptions as the football team plays in the Sun Belt Conference in football, the gymnastics team competes in the Western Gymnastics Conference and the indoor track and field teams are members of the Mountain Pacific States Federation. USU entered the 2003-04 season having won 36 Big West Conference titles in its 26 years of competition on the men's side and 14 years on the women's side. In 2002-03 USU won league titles in men's cross country and men's outdoor track and field. The men's basketball team has won the regular season or tournament championship in each of the last four seasons, while the cross country team has finished first or second in each of the last three years and the track team has won seven of the last 10 league titles. On the women's side, the USU gymnastics program has finished first or second in conference play in 10 of its last 12 years, while the outdoor track program won seven straight league titles in the 1990s. USU competes in 16 sports, including seven men's sports of basketball, cross country, football, golf, indoor track, outdoor track and tennis and nine women's sports of basketball, cross country, gymnastics, indoor track, outdoor track, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. USU has led the Big West Conference in academic all-conference selections in four of the last five years. Local Recreation and Sports - Logan Parks and Recreation schedule [2]Logan City Recreation Center includes Little League, football, soccer, baseball, basketball, pool, air hockey, table tennis, swimming, tennis, racquetball, summer children's programs and a new Skate Park. There are well cared for Parks, including Willow Park, Picnic, Zoo, and Children play area. There is an indoor Municipool and outdoor Logan Aquatic Center for swimming. GOLF COURSESThe Logan River [3] golf course opened in the spring of 1993. The architect was Robert Muir Graves of Walnut Creek, California, and Forsgren & Associates of Salt Lake City, Utah engineered the course. It covers 6,500 yards and is a par 71. The beautiful eighteen hole course that winds around the Logan River was rated the 10th best course in Utah in its first year. It was voted by Golf Magazine as one of the best places to play for under $50 and Golf Digest Magazine rated it one of the top 500 places to play in the United States.
